• Controlled wrist movement

• Dynamic shaping in grooves

WEEK 3 – Coordinated Hi-Hat Patterns

• Open & closed hi-hat coordination

• Alternating accents on hi-hat

• Introduction to “chick” pedal timing

Practical:

• Groove patterns with open-hat on “and” counts

• Tempo: 85–90 BPM

WEEK 4 – Beginner Syncopation

• Recognizing off-beat hits

• Simple syncopated kick patterns

WEEK 6 – Backing Track Integration

• How to follow a backing track

• Matching groove to feel of music

• Entry cues & ending cues

WEEK 7 – Small-Group Jams (Band Participation)

• Holding a stable beat during group play

• Listening for timing from guitar/keyboard player

• Maintaining rhythm without speeding up

• Instructors switch instruments to test consistency

WEEK 8 – Recording Prep (Studio Basics)

• Recording 12 bars with click track

• Intro to EQ basics (low/mid/high)

To earn the Skill-Ed Rhythm Builder Certificate (Beginner-2), a student must:

✔ Play 5 standard rhythms with steady timing

✔ Maintain tempo within ±5 BPM drift

✔ Execute clean transitions (Groove → Fill → Groove)

✔ Record 12 bars with click track

✔ Perform one song in ensemble setting

✔ Score 60/100 or above in final assessment
